Tan Cang - Cai Mep International Terminal celerated maiden call of M/V Hanjin Germany - The biggest tonnage vessel ever calling at Thi Vai - Cai Mep area (15/08/2011)

On March 21 2011, Tan Cang –Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT) – a joint venture between Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP), MOL (Japan), Hanjin (Korea), Wanhai (Taiwan), held a ceremony to celebrate the Hanjin Germany 001W/E of NE5 service (Asia North Europe Service 5) at TCIT.

This vessel has up to 122,900 DWT of deadweight, 349m of LOA, and 10,000 Teus of capacity. The Hanjin Germany 001W/E berthed at 10:00 AM on March 21,2011 and departed at 8:00 AM on March 22,2011. Her route includes 12 ports including: Gwangyang – Busan – Shanghai – Cai Mep – Singapore – Hamburg – Rotterdam – Le Havre – Algeciras – Singapore – Kaohsiung.

This is the biggest vessel to Thi Vai – Cai Mep River area so far. With the somewhat big size, this vessel is high stable, the transport time from Viet Nam to North Europe reduces from 23 hours to 19 hours.

By receiving Hanjin Germany, Tan Cang - Cai Mep Terminals have once again proved its ability to handle and dispatch mother vessels, well deemed as the first complete and most modern deep-water terminals in Vietnam.

Terminal facilities are intensively invested with total area of 40ha, including 2 berths of 590m in length and the container yard of 34ha. TCIT is also equipped with 6 STS cranes, 20 eRTG cranes, 30 tractors, 01 reach stacker and other modern and environmental friendly equipments, along with cutting edge IT facilities – TOS system for Terminal Operation and Management.
